Pilgrimage leaders: Jenny and John Hornblow

St George’s College in Jerusalem and The Anglican Centre in Rome are two centres for pilgrimage. We have been very involved with these two places and they are examples of local places that assist us to create a unique pilgrimage each time we travel.

John spoke at a global conference on pilgrimage in Oxford University, England, in July 2015 on pilgrimage as we experience it in New Zealand. John is a Priest in All Saints’ Parish, Palmerston North. Jenny is organist and Choir Director in the Parish and is a music educator. They are married with seven adult children and seven grandchildren. Till recently John was director of a HR Company (www.nexuspartners.co.nz) and Jenny was senior lecturer in Education at Massey University.

As Christians we have always been pilgrims. However, over the past decade we have planned and led a range of pilgrimages locally, regionally, and overseas. These hīkoi (literally, ‘walk’) have involved collective sacred journeys in which individuals and Christian congregations have come together to explore our common life.
